Spice Up Your Test Prep 🌶️
We’ve been there - the days of test prep can be intense. Here are some ideas on how you can increase engagement and actually have fun while preparing for the state test!
Create short goals for your students (ones they can hit daily or within the week) to make the review lessons more fun and engaging. Once they hit the goal, a reward is redeemed and you start over! Check out these free reward ideas from our team:
Extra recess
Extra brain break
Free Tech time
Movie lunch: Students can watch a movie in class while eating lunch
Test the teacher: The class compiles a test for the teacher to see how they score (any silly, but appropriate question like, “what did Johnny wear 3 days ago?”)
Seated teacher: Since students spend so much time sitting during testing, it’s only fair that the teacher has to teach for a period or the day in a seated manner.
5 Minutes of Open notes before next test: Students can purchase this to get 5 minutes of open note time before their next test.
Trivia Hour: Teacher hosts a trivia style game.

Don’t underestimate how valuable comments can be when included on a point in LiveSchool. By providing more information, you are not only helping students reflect on their behavior, you’re giving parents helpful context, plus it could come in handy for you or your team when you’re looking at data in the future!
We came up with 9 tips for writing better behavior comments:
Create Criteria - is additional information needed in this moment? Would it help them understand the situation?
Be specific - by providing concrete examples like “forgot textbook” rather than just “not prepared”, you’re helping students and parents know how they can improve.
Stay positive - replacing “don’t” with “remember to” can go a long way in how the feedback is received!
In February, we hosted a webinar with Mary Quinn Wood at Bowmar Elementary School highlighting how she uses LiveSchool in the classroom. It was a ton of fun and Mary provided lots of concrete examples for our community!
In this short clip, she talks about how she gives points all day every day, and tips for using points to focus on problem behaviors.
